With just one day to go, the team at Wightlink is making final preparations to carry many thousands of people to this summer’s Isle of Wight Festival.
Everyone on the ferry company’s three routes is ready to welcome music lovers keen to see headliners Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, George Ezra and Biffy Clyro and soak up the atmosphere of the UK’s leading Festival.
Britain’s Got Talent star Derek Sandy will perform on Thursday (13 June) on the 11:00 and 13:00 sailings from Portsmouth on Wightlink’s flagship car ferry Victoria of Wight. Also on board at this time will be facepainter Sharon Poole of Soul Face Painting.
To get the party started, musicians from Platform One on the Isle of Wight will be playing throughout the day from 09:00 to 17:00 at Wightlink’s Portsmouth car ferry port in Gunwharf Road.
“The Isle of Wight Festival is a real highlight of the year for us,” says Wightlink Chief Executive Keith Greenfield. “For the last few weeks we have been transporting essential supplies from fencing to portable toilets, now we will welcome festival goers from all over the UK and around the world to enjoy four days of fabulous music on our beautiful Island. It will truly be a summer of love this year.”
This year, revellers who want to head back to the mainland early on Saturday or Sunday morning can take advantage of Wightlink’s extra FastCat overnight sailings from Ryde Pier. When combined with Wightlink’s usual car ferry sailings from Fishbourne, it means there is a crossing every hour. Advance booking on bestwishes.uk.to is recommended.
