Helping Hand Scheme

Our hidden disability card

Helping Hand is a free scheme that provides a discreet and easy way for you to make our team aware of invisible disabilities or needs without having to verbally communicate them.

For example, you may have hearing difficulties and want our staff to speak clearly and slowly.

The Helping Hand scheme is separate from our accessible travel which can help you with needs such as a wider vehicle space on board our ferries or use of a Wightlink wheelchair. You’ll still need to book your Accessible travel needs at least 48 hours in advance if required.

About the Helping Hand Scheme

You will be given a bright yellow, easily-recognisable Helping Hand card. On the front there will be a brief message that can be shown to a member of our team either on arrival at our port or when boarding one of our ferries.

If required, you can also add emergency contact details on the reverse of the card. You can have as many Helping Hand cards as you need to help you travel with Wightlink.
